Our Volunteers
The firefighting services for the City of Sturgis are supplied by the Sturgis Volunteer Fire Department, a dedicated group of men and women trained in firefighting. Throughout the year, these volunteers respond from their homes or place of work to the station and from the station to the scene of the incident or emergency. During the day, the chief, if in station, responds from the station to emergencies. At night or if not in the station, the volunteer chief on call responds from his/her home directly to the scene to allow for a quick assessment of the emergency and to advise what equipment and quantity is needed for the incident.
Paid Employees
The City provides paid staffing of an administrative assistant and a mechanic, which are shared with the Sturgis Ambulance Service. There is no fire personnel staffing the station, other than one week out of the year during the Annual Motorcycle Rally.
