Sturgis seeks applicants for Municipal Utility Board

STURGIS - Looking for a way to give back and serve your community?

The City of Sturgis is looking for an individual to serve on the Municipal Utility Board.

The Municipal Utility Board is an advisory board to the city council.  The Sturgis Mayor appoints the three-person board on staggered six-year terms.

The MUB has taken a progressive approach to ensure safe and reliable water is provided to the city. Since its inception in 1979, they have completed numerous projects to keep up with the development of the city.

The MUB Board meeting is held once each month (usually on the fourth Tuesday) at 7:30 a.m. at City Hall. This meeting is open to the public.

Current board members are Shawn Mechling and Bernadette Usera. Nick Jones is currently the council liaison to the MUB.

This is an opportunity to play an important role in the city’s governance.

An application for the MUB opening is available online at https://tinyurl.com/52s9b6j8 or at the Sturgis City Finance Office, 1040 Harley-Davidson Way.

The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 30. You can either email the application to dholland@sturgisgov.com or drop it off at the Finance Office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
