Early voting now open for Sturgis Municipal Special Election

STURGIS - The Sturgis Municipal Special Election is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 7.

In-person voting opens today, Monday, Dec. 16, at the Finance Office at Sturgis City Hall, 1040 Harley-Davidson Way, Sturgis. You can vote in person at the Finance Office until 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6. 

Also, voters can request an absentee ballot that must be returned to the Finance Office by 3 p.m. on Jan. 6. Call the Finance Office at 605-347-4422. 

Finance Office hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Hours will be modified on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Christmas Day, Wednesday, Dec. 25. 

For the special election, only residents of Ward 1 and Ward 3 can vote. Voting takes place at the Sturgis Community Center; 1401 Lazelle St. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Jan. 7.

Candidates for the Ward 1 seat, are Alex Usera and Ryan Klima.

Candidates for the Ward 3 council seat, include David Murtha, Mark Chaplin, Richelle Bruch and Jennessa Dempsey.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, for the special election.
