STURGIS – The City of Sturgis along with Laura Klock and Mitchell Technical College students will unveil a customized a 2018 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Friday, Jan. 13, in Mitchell and Tuesday, Jan. 17, in Sturgis.

The bike will be auctioned at Mecum auctions in Las Vegas on Jan. 28, with proceeds going to Klock’s Helping with Horsepower Bike Rebuild Program and the Sturgis Rally Endowment Fund to ensure that the Rally tradition of charitable giving endures for the benefit of future Sturgis residents.

The Mitchell unveiling will take place in the foyer of the Nordby Trade Center on the Mitchell Technical College campus at 9 a.m. Following the reveal, the bike will be on display in the Nordby Training Center until 3 p.m.

Working with Helping with Horsepower and the City of Sturgis, second-year Power Sports Technology students customized the bike into “a performance, almost-race bagger with a touch of elegance,” according to Chris Degen, director of Mitchell Tech’s program. The finished bike features the City of Sturgis logo and the number 83, to commemorate the Rally’s 83rd year, set into ’80s-style racing stripes.

The public is invited to both reveals.

Klock said the finished product is amazing saying: “This is a really great motorcycle, with thousands of dollars in upgrades, one-off pieces, and branding that is one of one,” she said.
