Sturgis Community Ice Rink going up

The frame has been laid, and water is being added, but it is up to Mother Nature as to when the Sturgis Community Ice Rink will open for skaters. It could take two weeks or more for the rink to freeze. But once it does, we will let you know. Skating is free for everyone. The rink is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily when weather allows. Skate rentals are available at the Sturgis Community Center front desk and are free to members and just $3 for non-members. The Community Center is open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays-Fridays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. The last rentals can go out an hour before close. Skates must be returned 15 minutes before closing. Skaters who rent from the Community Center must sign a waiver. Children need to have a parent or legal guardian sign the waiver. Once a waiver is done, it will remain on file. Those who rent skates must do a trade to rent. (That could be car keys or a driver’s license, something of value to the renter).
