Sturgis Community Christmas Concert Dec. 11
Sunday, Dec. 11 is the date to mark your calendar for the 43rd Community Christmas Concert.
This enjoyable Sturgis community event is at 2 p.m. at the Sturgis Community Center Theater. Church choirs from local churches will once again gather and share their love of choral and handbell music. The concert is free to the public with an opportunity to give a free-will donation at the door.
The Sturgis Area Arts Council is proud to sponsor this well-attended event as we usher in the Christmas music season. The first concert, held in 1979, included many of the same choirs that will perform in 2022. The concert has been held every year except in 2020 when it was canceled because of the pandemic.
The combined choir director is Brenda Schaffer. Brenda is the director of First Presbyterian Church Choir. She has chosen “Sing Joy!” arranged by Mark Hayes. This is a magnificent Christmas medley and concludes with “Joy to the World” and is a terrific song choice that will fill our theater with the glorious sounds of Christmas.
Following the concert, the Meade Music Boosters are resurrecting their famous soup dinner fundraiser. The meal will be prepared by the new High School Culinary Arts teacher and chef, Joseph Koons, and his culinary arts students from Sturgis Brown High School. This event, as in the past, will round out our music-lovers exciting day. Music and food! Mark this day on your calendar
