In 2019, the South Dakota Workers Compensation Fund honored the Sturgis Ambulance Service for a "Safety Achievement Award".
The 2018 Trauma Wars were won by Paramedic Halli Schulz and Ambulance Director Shawn Fischer (Critical Care Paramedic) at the annual "Trauma Wars" competition hosted by Sanford during the State Conference. They upheld their 2017 victory. In 2016, Shawn Fischer and EMT-B Dylan Siscoe won the annual "Trauma Wars" competition at the State Conference. Congrats on our crew members for representing our service so capably year over year!
In 2014, the Sturgis/Meade County Ambulance Service received 2 LUCAS™ machines through funding from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust. The LUCAS™ Chest Compression System is a safe and efficient tool that standardizes chest compressions in accordance with the latest scientific guidelines. It provides the same quality for all patients and over time, independent of transport conditions, rescuer fatigue, or variability in the experience level of the caregiver. By doing this, it frees up rescuers to focus on other life-saving tasks and creates new rescue opportunities. It's great that Sturgis Ambulance Service was selected to receive these potentially life-saving devices!

In 2013, the Sturgis/Meade County Ambulance Service was named 2013 Emergency Medical Service of the Year at the Annual South Dakota Emergency Medical Technician Association Conference held in Watertown, South Dakota.
In the 2012, the service was also awarded the Sue Schuurman's Memorial Award. The annual award is given to an ambulance service that has shown growth in their special projects, public relations, training and other services.
